Search for active molecules against COVID-19

    SAFAN4covid

Scientists everywhere have raced to develop vaccines, tests and antivirals against SARS-Cov2 virus since its appearance in late 2019. While there are several vaccines and many tests in existence, the search for effective antiviral drugs continues and will go on for the foreseeable future. During 2020 and so far in 2021 S.A.F.AN. BIOINFORMATICS actively participated in this search, using its proprietary technology SAFAN-ISP, that forecasts interactions between small molecules or peptides with protein targets. S.A.F.AN. BIOINFORMATICS was part of the JEDI GRAND CHALLENGE (https://www.jedi.foundation/billion-molecules) and 48 of the molecules that we identified are now under experimental validation. S.A.F.AN. BIOINFORMATICS also collaborated with the french company HUMANA BIOSCIENCES in a project funded by Regione Occitania. Some of the compounds identified in this project have already been tested in vitro, showing encouraging results. In order to find new and more promising molecules S.A.F.AN. BIOINFORMATIC will continue its screening, enabled by the HPC4AI computational resources granted to us.
